We have heard of rehabilitation. This is the after the fact care for injury or sickness. A new concept introduced by Mark Verstegan of Athletes Performance in Tuscon, Arizona, is prehabilitation. This is the exercise equivalent of prevention. There are scores of musculoskeletal injuries that may plague us at one point in life from many different circumstances. The idea is that to perform maintainence on our musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems, we can prevent set backs from injury or sickeness. Along with “regular” exercise, are you addressing factors such as joint flexibility, joint stability, power, speed? I look at speed and power as preventative because they maximize my energy potential. Without maximal energy over time everything is compromised. Are you maximizing your body’s potential? What are your Training Goals?
